League tells central Ohio delegation to support President's budget
Tuesday, Mar. 31, 2009
In e-mail messages to U.S. Senators George V. Voinovich and Sherrod Brown and to U.S. Representatives Steve Austria, Mary Jo Kilroy, and Pat Tiberi today, the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus urged support for the President's budget.
The e-mails were sent in response to an action alert issued by the League of Women Voters of the United States. The full text of the message follows:
On behalf of the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus and our hundreds of members across central Ohio, I urge you to support the President’s budget because it contains essential funding for health care reform and for curbing global warming, while making other changes aimed at putting America on a path for economic recovery.
In today’s economy, it is more important than ever to support a budget that includes solutions to America’s toughest problems. The President’s budget does that by providing $630 billion over 10 years for health care reform and $646 billion over the same time period to reduce the greenhouse gases that are causing global warming.
Health care and global warming are two of our nation’s toughest challenges. The budget must reflect those priorities.
I urge you to support and vote for the President’s budget, and I thank you for your service to Ohio.
