Congress gets carrot, sticks for climate change vote; bill moves to Senate
Tuesday, Jul. 7, 2009
In letters sent today to central Ohio's Congressional delegation, the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus followed up on recent passage of the American Clean Energy and Security Act.
The League thanked Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy (Democrat, 15th District) for her Jun. 26 vote in support of the bill and expressed disappointment in Reps. Pat Tiberi (R-12th) and Steve Austria (R-7th) for their votes against it.
The League also contacted U.S. Senators George V. Voinovich and Sherrod Brown to urge their support of the bill when the Senate takes it up later this month.
The letters were sent in response to an action alert issued by the League of Women Voters of the United States.
