Bidding in full swing at holiday auction
Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010
Members and friends gathered Sunday for the annual holiday brunch and auction, raising almost $3,500 to support the League's membership and advocacy efforts.
More than 50 people were welcomed by hosts Nancy and Bob Brown at their Miranova home for brunch prepared by the League board of trustees. They bid on auction items large and small in three separate categories: "Raffle Mania," silent auction, and live auction.
Brent Taggart returned as auctioneer, offering his wry observations on immigration policy and quizzing attendees on the national origin (Canadian vs. American) of well-known public figures.
Ticket sales and bids exceeded revenue from the last four years.
Event organizers included Lucy Buzzee, Mary Kaul, Mim Brierley, Pat Larson, Jan Patton, and Amy Pulles.
