League urges President to stand up to polluters
Tuesday, Jun. 14, 2011
In an email to President Barack Obama, the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus today asked for a strong new standard for smog pollution.
The correspondence was sent in response to an action alert issued by the League of Women Voters of the United States. The full text of the email follows:
Dear President Obama:
On behalf of the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus and our hundreds of members across central Ohio, I urge you to set a strong new standard for smog pollution in order to protect the health of all Americans, including those who are most vulnerable to air pollution – our children and seniors.
Smog pollution threatens the health of too many Americans by triggering asthma attacks, reducing lung function and even causing premature deaths. Do not allow polluting industries to pressure the EPA to delay or weaken standards needed to protect people’s health from dirty air.
Our lives and health depend on your decision.
