Scott Britton first became involved with the League while working on Civil Rights advocacy in West Virginia. A few years later, in 2002, Scott moved to Columbus and joined the LWVMC when he was hired as Executive Director of the League of Women Voters of Ohio. Since then, Scott has been an integral part of LWVMC, holding many leadership positions including Budget Committee Chair, Webmaster, and Vice President of Advocacy to name a few!
Scott says that he has had many great experiences since he started volunteering with LWVMC. Some of his favorite memories include “the friendships I developed with fellow League members…I have had a lot of fun at state and national conventions, planning local programs and making a difference on local policy issues”. Scott stated that his proudest League accomplishment has been “helping improve our local advocacy and redesigning our website in time for the 2008 presidential campaign”.
Amy Pulles, President of LWVMC, remarked “Scott is always willing to step up to the plate and help out the League in whatever way necessary.” This year Scott worked to update the LWVMC website, and trained other members and staff on how to best use the website and social media to get election information out to the public. Scott also ran this year’s Program Planning meeting to collect members’ opinions about LWV Ohio’s current positions on a variety of issues.
Scott currently works as the Assistant Director of Public Children Services Association of Ohio and lives in Worthington with his partner Jim and their 6 year old son, Drew. He continues to make time to volunteer with the League, and for that we are very grateful!
Congratulations to Scott Britton!
