LWVMC Holiday Party with Rafflemania, Silent and “Live” Auctions Successful Fun(d) Raiser

Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013

LWVMC’s annual fundraising Holiday Party held on Sunday, December 8th was another success in so many ways. Over $4600 was raised from the “Rafflemania” along with the Silent and “Live” auctions, and all who were there and participated had a grand time with great food, beverage and conversation which equals MERRIMENT!

The party was held at the beautiful Miranova home of Nancy and Bob Brown. Mimosas were served and the LWVMC Board of Trustees provided a variety of Brunch food. Brent Taggart served as the auctioneer extraordinaire complete with his humorous PowerPoint presentation, which is always topical and this year Brent’s version of “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me” featured “cash” prizes! Brent’s commentary on current events and political figures was, as usual, hilarious!

The committee (Mary Kaul, Mim Brierley, Anne Hammerstein, Pat Larson, Jan Patton, and Brent Taggart) was responsible for making phone calls and soliciting items for the auctions, as well as planning the party. Thank you to the committee as well as to all who contributed to the success of the event: Nancy and Bob Brown, Brent Taggart, Elizabeth Grieser, and all of the members of the Board of Trustees for the delicious food. Thank you to the following League members who contributed items for the raffles and auctions:

Pat Larson (Chocolate mousse cake, hand-knitted items, and denim purses), Anne Nelson ( Two Fresh Wreaths), David and Lucy Buzzee (Bicycle tuning, CREW tickets, and $100 Barcelona gift certificate), Gloria Davis (Amish quilt), Jan Patton (LWVMC logo mug + free trade coffee), Beth Taggart’s sister, Christina Havens (2 pair of hand-made earrings), Jane Young (Whole Foods gift card, tote and Piano music CDs), Mim Brierley (Guatemalan hand-woven belt, Coldwater Creek jewelry, Art (with artist Sue Cavanaugh) and Food package, OSU 2014 Football tickets, Carpe Diem tickets), Anne Hammerstein (OSU men’s and women’s basketball tickets + Panera gift card), Peg and Al Rosenfield (Massage Car Cushion and pillow), Brent Taggart (Tickets for The New Albany Classic and Family Day, 2 wine refrigerator coolers), David Buzzee (12 bottles of wine to fill the wine refrigerator coolers), and Nancy & Bob Brown (a week’s stay at their Provincetown, Cape Cod condo)
